Newcastle United have reached an agreement in principle with LOSC Lille over the transfer of Dutch defender Sven Botman. The Premier League club officially confirmed this on Tuesday evening. According to reports, up to 40 million euros in bonuses will flow to the French top club – 37 million euros of this should be the base fee, it was said recently.
Botman successfully completed the medical check-up with the “Magpies” and agreed to the terms of a five-year contract. The formalities of the transfer should be completed this week. In the ranks of NUFC record signings, the central defender is in third place behind former Hoffenheim player Joelinton (25) and his Brazilian compatriot Bruno Guimarães (24). So far, Lille has only sold Nicolas Pépé (27; Arsenal) and Victor Osimhen (23; Napoli) more expensive.
