The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has announced the launch of a new call for aid developed together with the Innovative Business Groups with an investment of 50 million euros, in the delivery of some awards that have also been granted the ‘Institutional Motor Award’ to Alphabet Spain and the ‘Name of the Motor’ to Wayne Griffiths, president of Seat
The awards “Car of the Year of the Readers” de Prensa Ibérica have once again brought together the Spanish automotive sector in a crowded gala in which the Hyundai Ioniq 5 received the twentieth edition of these consolidated awards. A gala in which Wayne Griffiths, president of Seat, and Alphabet Spain were also going to be protagonists, awarded on this occasion with the distinction of ‘Engine Name’ and with him ‘Institutional Motor Award’respectively. Reyes Maroto, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, took advantage of her attendance at this event to announce “the publication in the BOE of a new call that we developed with the Innovative Business Groups with an investment amounting to €50 million, and in which the automotive industry is the one that benefits the most. Maroto also highlighted “the approval of the bases of the State Pact for Industry in a document that will be presented tomorrow in Congress and in which the economic and social agents are identified as a lever of transformation and that through This state pact gives the necessary confidence and security & rdquor ;.
The head of the Industry portfolio admitted that “we are in a complex moment of transformation but in which we also have to write a story for the automotive industry, reinforcing public-private collaboration to lead this process”. In this sense, Maroto placed special emphasis on the implementation of the PERTE of the Electric Vehicle and Connects to which the recently presented PERTE Chip has been added with a public investment of more than 12,000 million euros, which means that Spain not only wants to play the game, but that they go out to win & rdquor ;.
Mobility Transformation
Javier Moll, president of Prensa Ibérica, highlighted in his speech “the commitment of the automotive sector to progress and that, despite the difficulties, it maintains its investment pulse and steps on the accelerator to adapt as soon as possible to the mobility transformation”. A process led by electricity in which “brands are taking increasingly firm steps & rdquor; supported by the government with the aim of “turning our country into a ‘hub’ for electromobility and boosting the economy, employment and solvency of a sector that is driving force in our country”.
Faced with the new industrial scenario dominated by electricity, the president of Prensa Ibérica assured that “we are facing a challenge, and at the same time an opportunity that we cannot miss. A train that Spain must get on, and it must do so in the leading car & rdquor ;.

Readers’ Car of the Year
Polo Satrústegui, CEO of Hyundai Motor Spaincollected from the hands of the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism the award of Readers’ Car of the Year 2022 achieved by the Hyundai Ioniq 5. A recognition that according to Satrústequi “we are especially excited to receive as it is the first electric model to win the Readers’ Car of the Year, which shows that the market is changing in its evolution towards sustainability.”
Also, according to the director of the Korean firm, “the ionic 5 is Hyundai’s spearhead in terms of electric technology, the greatest exponent of a commitment to electric vehicles by our brand and which is the preview of a 100% electric range that will have 11 models by 2030 and a investment of 15,000 million euros & rdquor ;.

In its 2022 edition the Readers’ Car of the Year Awards have awarded the distinction Engine Name to Wayne Griffiths. The president of Seat SA began his intervention by showing his satisfaction at receiving an award that “recognizes Seat’s effort to turn Spain into an electric vehicle hub in Europe & rdquor ;. A point of reference for the automotive industry that began more than 70 years ago when “Seat put Spain on wheels. Now it’s time to put Spain on electric wheels & rdquor ;.
