Hondsrug College director about violent fight: ‘Very serious incident’

There is unrest among the parents of students at Hondsrug College in Emmen. Recently, a boy is said to have been seriously injured after a fight got out of hand. It is alleged that he broke his nose and jaw and that the student is also missing a number of teeth after a hard shin kick.

Videos of the excessive violence have been forwarded through various chat groups and social media. Parents would therefore keep their children at home, but that is not the case, according to director Rolf Mulder of Hondsrug College.

“Some parents are of course worried. Just like us. But there is no question of staying at home,” says Mulder. He calls the incident in the video an incident. “A very serious incident, which shocked us all.” According to the director, it would be a fight that got out of hand in which nasty things happened. “Sufficient reason to at least involve the police.”

About the injuries of the boy in question, the school principal says: “He is not seriously injured. Those are Native American stories.” The Hondsrug College will take measures in consultation with parents and the police. “Everything to prevent this from happening again”, Mulder concludes.
