The Düsseldorf fashion retailer Peek & Cloppenburg will open its first store with a sustainable store concept in 2023. Peek & Cloppenburg announced on Friday that the store is currently being built in Berlin’s High Street district on Potsdamer Platz.
The sustainability solutions are to be tested on an area of 3,500 square meters spread over three floors, which could then also be rolled out in other stores, according to Düsseldorf. In addition to the more sustainable products, the new store will also focus on the topic of sustainability through events.
Expansion and new openings
In addition to the new concept, the fashion retailer is also planning to open up the Italian market and thus also become active in southern Europe. Peek & Cloppenburg has set itself the goal of becoming the leading multi-brand omnichannel fashion retailer in Europe by 2026.
To this end, the company is investing in brick-and-mortar retail and e-commerce. According to the press release, online business is to be promoted through the technical further development of existing online shops and the opening up of new markets in e-commerce.
“In the conception of all our measures, the focus is on the omnichannel idea. We think and act seamlessly and across channels. In the future, the shopping experience should not differ for our customers online and stationary, rather it should be linked optimally and without any hurdles,” said Edgar Hert, executive member of the company management. “The aim is to offer our customers uniform performance, services and communication across all touchpoints.”
In stationary retail, P&C relies on new openings and conversions. The fashion retailer opened in Gießen this year as well as the first store of the Danish fashion retailer Magasin du Nord in Kassel, which has belonged to the group of companies since last year. In addition, a new Peek & Cloppenburg store will open in the new Dreiländergalerie in Weil am Rhein, Baden-Württemberg. But the fashion retailer is also expanding its branch network internationally and opening its doors in Prague, Brussels and Almere in the Netherlands.
But the expansion is also being pushed ahead at the menswear specialist Anson’s, which also belongs to Peek & Cloppenburg KG from Düsseldorf. After opening locations in the Czech Republic, Croatia and Romania, a second store will follow in Prague in 2022.
P&C launches café concept
In addition to clothing, P&C will also be focusing on a new café concept in the future, which will be called ‘Ivys Coffee’. The concept was rolled out in April in the Dortmund store of Peek & Cloppenburg and is to be integrated this year in Vienna in the store on Mariahilfer Strasse, which was reopened in April after modernization.
