Day of action: busy at Ostend airport, limited nuisance at De Lijn

Today about 2,600 passengers depart from Ostend airport, normally 600. There are also a number of special destinations: long-haul flights to Havana in Cuba and Cancun in Mexico. The airport has deployed additional staff to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible. (read more below the photo)

Dieter Bruneel, director of operations TUI Fly: “As a result of the reports from Brussels, we had already decided earlier this week to transfer a number of flights from Brussels to Ostend. But certainly when the message came that the airport in Zaventem was closing completely, we have to add extra flights. A total of 15 flights are operated from Ostend airport today.”

Limited nuisance at De Lijn

Transport company De Lijn advises travelers to check the route planner, the website or the app to see whether or not their bus or tram is running. 60% of the buses would run. Only 40 percent of the coastal trams would run by the sea.
