Which former finalists will participate? Some are already known. In the trailer of the online edition we already see a number of candidates in the participants’ seats. Extra edition of ‘The smartest person’
The special finalists edition is going to look different than usual. The series consists of five episodes. Each episode, four candidates will play against each other, instead of three. The winner of the episode will automatically receive a spot in the final on Friday, August 19. The winner of that episode can call himself the ‘Smartest person’.

The online series, called The smartest person: All Starscan be seen from July 22 on NPO Start† Like the regular series, which starts on television on 11 July, it will be presented by Philip Freriks, assisted by jury member Maarten van Rossem.
Season 19
The previous season of The smartest person was won by Jacob Derwig. The season was special thanks to the participation of Jan Rot, who has since passed away. He was already terminally ill by then and had the great desire to participate in the program again.
