French people go to the polls today: Macron can hope for an (absolute) majority in parliament

The coalition around French liberal president Emmanuel Macron and that around leftist Jean-Luc Mélenchon are neck-and-neck after the first round of parliamentary elections. Barely 21,442 votes separate the two blocks. Still, ‘Ensemble’, the alliance of parties supporting Macron, is forecast to win the most seats in the second round, which takes place today. She even has a chance of an absolute majority.
