Because of Corona, the Jumbo-Visma cycling team has withdrawn from the Tour de Suisse, the Dutch team announced before the start of the fifth stage.
“The reason for this is that, despite all the precautionary measures, Corona has crept into the team again,” it said in a statement. It was not announced who was infected by the seven professionals participating in the tour.
The best-placed driver for Jumbo-Visma was the American Sepp Kuss, who in seventh place overall was ten seconds behind leader Stephen Williams from Great Britain. The fifth stage takes the field of riders over 190.1 kilometers from Ambri to Novazzano. The Tour de Suisse ends on June 19 with the individual time trial in Vaduz.
