Marieke Beekmans (21) from Tilburg is looking for a woman who gave her a heart of rose quartz six months ago, in the middle of the corona time. This act of kindness made a huge impression on her and she is still not forgotten. That is why she will be standing in the center of town with a cardboard sign in the hopes of finding her for the foreseeable future.
“Something so small, had such a big impact on me,” says Marieke, but according to her, the woman changed the way she stands in life.
It was January 8, the time when you still had to pick up something in the store via Click & Collect. Marieke was working at the HEMA in the center of Tilburg at the time and she was not having an easy day. “The vet was going to put my cat to sleep that day and I was not feeling well.”
“She said, ‘You’re a beautiful person’.”
A woman walked into the store out of the heavy rain. If she could buy two umbrellas for her and her children. Although she actually had to make an appointment for that, Marieke decided to help her and they struck up a conversation. “After the checkout she took my hands and said, ‘You are a beautiful person. Trust yourself and love yourself.”
As she said this she pressed the gem into her hands. That moment has stayed with Marieke all those months. “I was speechless. She completely changed my day by giving me that. I realized very well that it was something small, but it made such an impression on me.”

And so she now goes in search of the unknown woman. She hopes people can help her further. “On my plate I have a picture of the gem.”
About the woman she only knows that she had dark brown hair. “I know that the rose quartz comes from a shop in Tilburg. Other than that, I have zero clues.” She hopes to find the woman soon. “What I especially want to show is the effect of a kind act. That I set everything in motion to find her.”
