Oscar Otte won his first game at the ATP tournament in Halle. The 28-year-old defeated Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets. The other German tennis professionals, on the other hand, have been eliminated.

Otte prevailed 7: 6 and 6: 4, benefiting above all from his strong serve. His Serbian opponent was only able to break him once at the beginning of the second set, but Otte was able to counter immediately and closed the sack himself with his second break in the last game.

Altmaier has no chance against Kyrgios

A few hours earlier, the event in Westphalia ended for Daniel Altmaier after the first game. The 23-year-old lost to Australian Nick Kygrios 3: 6 and 5: 7. The eccentric Australian convinced with his punch and risky game and didn’t give his German opponent a chance. In the first set Altmaier lost his serve twice (to 2: 3 and 3: 6)

The player from Kempen was able to make the game much more open in the second round, but was left behind in the decisive phase. When the score was 5: 6, Altmaier made a slight backhand error that gave Kyrgios two match balls – and he used the second of them with a return winner with the backhand.

In the second round there is now a duel between Kyrgios and Tsitsipas. The Greek had much bigger problems against the French Bonzi at 7: 6, 1: 6, 6: 3 than his upcoming opponent.

Only Otte there

On Monday, Henri Squire, who had to retire after a 3-4 draw against Laslo Djere (Serbia), and Jan-Lennard Struff (three-set loss to Ilya Ivashka) two other German tennis players have already been eliminated in Halle. Otte, who meets Nikoloz Basilashvili from Georgia in the second round, is the last DTB professional in the field.
