Rangnick team loses in Denmark, France still without a win

On the fourth day of the Nations League, Austria loses to Denmark for the second time. World champions France continue to disappoint across the board and remain bottom of the group.

Ralf Rangnick suffered his second defeat in his fourth game as Austria’s national coach. The Austrians lost 0:2 (0:2) against strong Danes on Monday evening. Wolfsburg striker Jonas Wind (21st minute) and Andreas Skov Olsen (37th) scored the goals in Copenhagen. After the third win, Denmark continues to lead the Nations League Group 1.

Rangnick should not have been satisfied with the performance of his Austrians. The Danes dominated the game from the start, the ÖFB selection hardly had any chances. After a nice combination, Wind initially took the lead from a short distance. Then Skov Olsen followed up after a quick counterattack. Shortly before the end, substitute Christian Eriksen (88th) almost made it 3-0. But his shot hit the post.

France misses title defense

In the second game of the group, world champions France remained without a win for the fourth time. The reigning Nations League winner lost 1-0 to Croatia in the repeat of the 2018 World Cup final and can no longer defend his title. In the Stade de France, Real Madrid star Luca Modric gave the guests the lead in the 5th minute with a penalty kick. Ex-Leipziger Ibrahima Konaté had previously stepped on the heel of a Croatian in the penalty area.

Despite clear dominance, coach Didier Deschamps’ team failed to score. With just two points from four games, France sits at the bottom of the group.
