KVO wants to ensure retention

One new face at the first practice session: West Fleming Sieben Dewaele already signed for KVO last season, but was loaned out to sister club AS Nancy last season.

“It’s always a specific moment in a club when the players come back. It’s bringing life back to the brewery and I’m looking forward to it. With 26 players we already have a large selection to start the first week of training. It goes without saying that there will be some movement in the transfer market in the coming weeks, both inbound and outbound. The preparation is also always the right time to involve some U21 players in the training sessions of the first team. I’m sure they will be hungry and I look forward to seeing them progress,” Gauthier Ganaye said on the club’s website.

Gino Caen also returns to KV Oostende as assistant to head coach Yves Vanderhaeghe.

The 57-year-old Caen was already an assistant/physical trainer under Vanderhaeghe with the coastal team from 2015 to 2017. Caen then went to work for RSC Anderlecht and AA Gent. Last season he was under contract with Zulte Waregem. “For me, this is a return to a team where I have always loved working and above all with a coach with whom my relationship has always been top notch,” said Caen, who succeeds Markus Pflanz.

The new physical trainer is Korneel Deceuninck, who comes over from the promise team. Wesley Deschacht will remain on post as a video analyst, as will goalkeeper coach Eberhard Trautner. The latter is the only one left from the era of Alexander Blessin, who left for Genoa and was succeeded by Vanderhaeghe in February.
