A woman (32) lies on the asphalt on Alexanderstrasse, in the middle of the road. With serious head and shoulder injuries, abrasions and bruises. She is dazed. Unbelievable: A driver hit her and then fled from the scene of the accident! He was caught anyway – thanks to the efforts of two courageous Berliners!
Friday evening, around 8:15 p.m., at Alexanderplatz, at the intersection with Otto-Braun-Straße. The cyclist stands at the traffic light, has green, drives off, wants to cross the intersection. But the black G-Class Mercedes approaches from the left and knocks over the cyclist. She falls, the bike is thrown across the street.

Instead of taking care of the accident victim, the 34-year-old driver from Moldova accelerated and fled from the scene of the accident via Greifswalder Straße. After several testimonies, the police later assumed with certainty that the man still ran through the traffic light when it was red.
The police owe the fact that the Moldovan could be caught at all to a brave driver (25) and his passenger (24), who witnessed the accident. You watch everything that happens. When they see the speeder flee, they attach themselves to his black Mercedes with French registration.

At the intersection of Hufelandstrasse and Greifswalder Strasse, they can force him to stop and hold him until the police come! As it turns out later, the Moldovan doesn’t even have a driver’s license, and he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs – his glassy eyes and the smell of alcohol were obvious enough.
