After a year of living together, Virpi and her children moved into the home of Tommy and his children. It was natural for Virp that Tommy’s dead spouse Saara Kovero can be seen as before in their home.
According to the couple, there are always fresh flowers and a candle often lit by the photo of Saara and the children.
– Tommy spoke openly about the time when he had to let go. Although I never met Sarah, I feel like I got to know her after hearing a lot about her. Saara is always a part of our lives, Virpi tells the magazine with emotion.
After moving in together, Tommy and Virpi wanted to give their children space and peace to get to know each other. All the children got their own rooms where they could retreat if they wanted to. According to the couple, no one was pressured to spend time together with the new family.
Today, three of the four children live in the family, as Tommy’s daughter in her twenties lives on her own. Both sons are 18 years old.
– I felt incredibly touching how, on our first Christmas together, my son had written to Virpi in a Christmas card, how dear and important this had become. You can’t force things like this, says Tommy.

Tommy and Virpi met at the beginning of 2023. In the same year, the couple told Anna that they met at Nokia Arena’s invited guests event about a year after Tommy’s spouse died. Tommy’s previous spouse Saara died of brain cancer in 2022, and the man had thought that he might live the rest of his life alone.
– I felt the burning of the brown eyes so strongly in my whole body that I had to look away. I carefully winked at Tommy again as if acknowledging, Did I see correctly, Virpi recalled.
– I thought I had to meet Tommy in the daylight. I wanted to make sure if my feelings were as strong after the party buzz died down, he added.
After getting home, Tommy sent a text message to Virpi. Three days later, the couple had coffee at the Jumbo shopping center, and the rest is history. After the new relationship became public, Tommy received indignant comments. Many wondered if Tommy had had time to mourn his wife’s death when he quickly began a new relationship.
At the time, Tommy responded to critics on Instagram.
– You have no idea what another person’s life is like, Fränti wrote.
– I will continue to walk my own path. Fearing nothing and no one, he added at the end.
