“The mountain’s still high. Yet something is different…”
That’s what it says in the song “Falling” by singer Julee Cruise. In English: “The mountain is still high, but something is different.”
As a catchy tune for many young viewers and probably their greatest success, the soundtrack shaped prime time in the 90s. The title song to the hit series “Twin Peaks” made her world famous.
The singer has now died at the age of 65.
Her husband Edward Grinnan announced the sad news on Facebook. “You should know that today I said goodbye to my wife, Julee Cruise,” the post reads. “She left this realm on her own terms.”
The cause of death of the singer is not yet known.
What you know: In 2018, the singer announced that she was suffering from lupus. It is an autoimmune disease that attacks the body’s immune system and healthy cells. Cruise is said to have suffered from severe pain.
Star director David Lynch made her world famous
Fans first heard Julee’s beautiful voice during her collaboration with director David Lynch (76). She also sang the ballad “Myteries of Love” from the thriller “Blue Velvet” (1986).
However, most knew her breathy voice from the intro to the cult TV series “Twin Peaks”.
Even though Julee has died, her voice will live on forever.
