Mbappe saves point for France against Austria
World champions France also failed to win their third match in the Nations League. Star player Kylian Mbappé saved a point for the team of national coach Didier Deschamps in Vienna. France, title holders of the Nations League, had started the tournament last week with a home defeat to Denmark and then drew against Croatia.
France started with Antoine Griezmann and Karim Benzema on the attack and with Mbappé on the bench. The French did not create many chances. On the other hand, an attack in the 37th minute was successful. After a smart pass from Marko Arnautovic, Konrad Laimer put in a good cross and Andreas Weimann tapped in.
After more than an hour, Deschamps brought Mbappé for Griezmann. Sent off by Christopher Nkunku, the fast attacker was unstoppable in the 83rd minute by the Austrian defence, where Feyenoord player Gernot Trauner had a starting place. Mbappe scored the equalizer hard. He also seemed to give France the win, but his shot after a quick attack ended up on the crossbar via the goalkeeper.
