Dynamo Dresden, who have been relegated to the second division, has signed Markus Beginning as the new head coach. The 47-year-old succeeds Guerino Capretti. Beginning has a contract with the third division club from Saxony until June 30, 2024.
The new Dynamo hopeful, who will be presented at a press conference in Dresden at 2:00 p.m., resigned as coach of the then second division club Werder Bremen in November after the public prosecutor’s office had initiated investigations into him for using a fake vaccination card.

“Before this decision, we naturally gave it a lot of thought, which went beyond the purely sporting side. For us, it was crucial in the very good discussions with Markus Anfang that he openly and honestly admitted his misconduct from the past and sincerely regretted it,” said Dynamo sports director Ralf Becker and emphasized: “Everyone makes mistakes and Markus has taken responsibility for his and received the just punishment.”
The Bremen District Court sentenced Beginning to a fine totaling 36,000 euros, the sports court of the German Football Association banned him as a coach for one year and is suspending this sentence on probation from today, Friday. “I am very grateful to those responsible at Dynamo Dresden for this opportunity. It is an exciting and challenging task.” Beginning brings his longtime assistant coach Florian Junge to Dresden.
