The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee arrested three Romanian men on Saturday morning for the theft of three sheep. The men had stolen the animals from a sheep farmer near Oss and transported the still living animals in the trunk of their car.
During an inspection by the military police, the Romanians were arrested near the Gelderland village of Beek-Ubbergen. “The sheep farmer is now on his way to pick up his animals,” says a spokesman for the Marechaussee.
More theft
Sheep are more often stolen for their meat. The animals are usually taken directly to the slaughterhouse. The sheep near Oss could therefore have been saved from slaughter just in time.
