London (AP) – The former Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst is apparently about to move from Premier League relegated Burnley FC to Turkish top football club Besiktas Istanbul, reports English and Turkish media unanimously.
The 29-year-old Netherlands striker left VfL Wolfsburg in January after scoring 59 goals in 118 Bundesliga games to pursue a dream of moving to England. With Burnley FC, however, he missed relegation, Weghorst scored only two goals in 20 Premier League games.
According to media reports, his English club only want to loan the Dutchman out, but Besiktas also want to negotiate a purchase option. The 2021 Turkish champion is currently being coached by former Wolfsburg coach Valerien Ismael. Despite the relegation, FC Burnley is to be taken over by former HSV professional and Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany.
