Juventus loan ends: Álvaro Morata has ‘many options’

Among professionals with the largest transfer proceeds

189 million euros in transfer fees have already been spent on Álvaro Morata. Only three other footballers have achieved even larger transfer earnings in their careers. This sum could increase again in the summer. The 29-year-old striker’s loan at Juventus expires after two years and the Spain international reportedly doesn’t appear to feature prominently in coach Diego Simeone’s plans at home club Atlético Madrid.

Morata is not worried about his future. “I have many options. It’s not up to me, I can just work very hard and see what happens. The good thing is that there are several teams waiting for me,” he said at a press conference after Thursday’s Nations League game against Portugal, in which he scored 1-1 (quoted via “mark“). For the right-footer, however, it is clear: “I want to be where I am most wanted and valued.”

Juventus will according to the editorial board of transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio do not exercise the purchase option for the rumored EUR 35 million. A fee of 20 million euros was already paid for the loan. However, the Bianconeri have not written off Morata’s permanent return to Real Madrid after his first departure in 2016. Rather, the “old lady” should speculate on getting the striker for a fee lower than the amount anchored in the loan contract. At Atlético, Morata still has a working paper until 2023.

Morata has recorded 32 goals and 21 assists in 92 games for Turin in the last two seasons. If you also include his first spell with the Bianconeri, the figures rise to 185 appearances, 59 goals and 39 assists – for no other club has he played more often.
