Ruud reaches final – climate activist causes excitement

Casper Ruud won the semifinals of the French Open. But the game didn’t go well. The reason was a young woman who attached herself to the net – and was carried off the field.

Casper Ruud is the first Norwegian to reach the final of a Grand Slam tournament and challenges Rafael Nadal in Paris. The 23-year-old world number one defeated Croatian Marin Čilić in the second semi-final of the French Open on Sunday 3: 6, 6: 4, 6: 2, 6: 2 and will meet the major record winner from Spain on Sunday.

Activist causes excitement

The game was temporarily interrupted for more than ten minutes. An environmental activist had chained herself to the net. She ran onto court Philippe Chatrier during Friday night’s match between Casper Ruud (Norway) and Marin Čilić (Croatia).

The woman wore a t-shirt that read “We have 1028 days left.”

The match had to be interrupted in the third set, both players left the field for ten minutes. Previously, the German Olympic champion Alexander Zverev (Hamburg) had to give up against Rafael Nadal (Spain) after he had twisted his ankle (Read more about the drama about Zverev here.).
