Hamburg (dpa / lno) – Second division soccer team Hamburger SV has signed goalkeeper Matheo Raab.
The 23-year-old comes from 1. FC Kaiserslautern, with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga as a regular keeper last season. In the two relegation games against Dynamo Dresden, he kept a clean sheet. As announced by HSV, Raab received a contract until 2026. He comes on a free transfer and is Hamburg’s first signing for the coming season.
Raab is initially planned as number two. First-choice goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes had cemented his status with strong performances last season. On the other hand, there is probably no more room in the squad for Marko Johansson from Sweden, despite his contract until 2024. Third goalkeeper is Tom Mickel.
