After a call about a gunman, local police rushed to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where a man with a firearm was said to be walking the corridors of the hospital. When the officers arrived on the scene, they found that several people had been shot. “At that time, some of them were already dead,” Police Chief Richard Meulenberg told ABC News. The officers assumed that one of the dead was the shooter, “because he had a long rifle and a pistol with him,” Meulenberg said.
The suspect has not yet been identified. His age is estimated between 35 and 40 years. The dead include hospital workers and patients, police said.
Last Tuesday, an 18-year-old man opened fire at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. The gunman holed up in a classroom and killed 19 children and two teachers before being shot dead by police.
A few days earlier, also there by an 18-year-old man, fire was opened in a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, killing ten people and injuring three others. The man had indicated on the internet that he was acting for racist reasons. All the fatalities were black.
