After returning to the Bundesliga, SV Werder Bremen wants to strengthen its squad in several positions. The left side of defense is still a problem area. According to a report, a former Bayern talent could help there.
What is meant is Derrick Köhn from the Dutch first division relegated Willem II, who after “sky“-Information at Werder should be on the list.
The 23-year-old, who has been a regular in the Eredivisie for the past two seasons, is said to have little desire to go to the lower house. His contract in Tilburg expires in 2023.
Before his time at Willem II, Köhn had played for Bayern’s second team for three years. Born in Hamburg, he was part of the team that was promoted to the 3rd division in 2019 and sensationally became champions in the following season.
The left footer was trained at HSV, Werder Bremen’s archrival in northern Germany. However, Köhn was denied the leap into the professional team of the Rothosen.
Köhn fee for Werder Bremen to be lifted
The defender made 62 appearances in two years in the Eredivisie (one goal, two assists). Köhn has also been nominated for the Ghana national team, but is still waiting for his debut with the Black Stars.
It is unclear how expensive a transfer of the defensive player would be for SVW, which is not financially on a bed of roses. However, Willem II would probably not call for huge sums.
So far, Bremen have signed three newcomers for the 2022/2023 season in Amos Pieper (Arminia Bielefeld), Niklas Stark (Hertha BSC) and Dikeni Salifou (FC Augsburg U19). The trio comes to the Weser free of charge.
