Staden wants to ban through freight traffic in the center

The plan is now to ban freight traffic on the N36 in the center. But as a result, local entrepreneurs and farmers will also have to drive at least 10 kilometers to get to the other side of the municipality. They don’t like that and that’s why they propose an alternative. Dries Decadt, plant nursery Decadt – Verhelst: “A combination of solutions will probably be needed. But one of the proposals is to allow local transports in a larger area with smart cameras, so that trade can proceed in a normal way. Because taking a 10 kilometer detour costs money and energy, and it is not ecologically responsible either.”

At the beginning of next month, there will be consultations with the municipal council about the plan that is now on the table.
