Superfan Monique attends ABBA hologram concert in London three times

She attends the same ABBA hologram concert no fewer than three times. Monique Hoevens from Tilburg is therefore a real fan. Thursday evening was the premiere of a series of concerts in London and members of the international fan club were invited. “It was unbelievable,” says Monique in Brabant Today.

The superfan is thrilled to be able to attend the special concert on Thursday. “We were singing and dancing on the chairs. The Swedish king and queen were dancing between the audience on Dancing Queen. And the members of ABBA were there too, which of course makes it very special. They even came on stage for a while. to thank us. So it was really fantastic.”

Thursday evening’s concert was a special premiere for VIPS, but Monique from Tilburg was also invited to attend. “The management had invited 1200 members of the international fan club to stand among the rest of the VIPS. Of course we have to create the atmosphere. That worked out well, we were an exuberant crowd,” says the super fan.

“Even if you’re not a fan, this is really worth seeing.”

ABBA did not perform live, it was a kind of hologram concert. A 3D projection of the Swedish pop group could be seen on stage. “It’s popularly called a hologram, but it’s actually a much more modern technique. They worked on it constantly for five weeks,” says Monique. “The big difference with holograms is that the members of ABBA have filmed all kinds of movements themselves in special suits, while they sang. So in a way they are on stage themselves.”

According to the fan, it felt like a real live concert. “It was so great,” she repeats enthusiastically. “There was also a spectacular light show, the sound was fantastic and there was a live band. Even if you are not a fan this is really worth seeing.”

“Everyone is always flying into each other’s arms.”

After two years of corona, Monique is very happy that they can also get back together with the fan club. “The whole community is one big family. I’m in London now with 1200 ABBA fans and I run into someone I know everywhere. We haven’t seen each other in over two years so everyone is hugging each other all the time. It’s just one big party. In the pubs they now also play ABBA everywhere.”

And while she’s in London, Monique just goes to the same hologram concert twice more. “Friday evening is the official opening to the public and I will go again on Saturday, before I take the train to the Netherlands again on Sunday.”
