On Saturday, May 28, at 9 p.m., the whistle will sound for one of the most important football games of the year: the UEFA Champions League Final 2022. The final was originally supposed to take place in St. Petersburg, but due to the current political situation it will now be held at the Stade de France played in Paris Saint Denis. Major sporting events in Germany are traditionally broadcast by public broadcasters. In the case of the Champions League final this year, ZDF will broadcast live from the French stadium. The contract between ZDF and UEFA has existed since 2021 and made it possible to combine all CL games with German participation last year.
Parallel to the broadcast on linear television, you can also follow the game free of charge on the ZDF live stream. From 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, ZDF will start the preparatory transmission. First of all, fans can get in the mood for the Champions League final with moderator Jochen Breyer and the (former) players Per Mertesacker and Christoph Kramer – both in the 2014 World Cup squad. From 8:25 p.m. the “Sportstudio UEFA Champions League” will be shown on ZDF. After the game there is, as usual, “the current gym”.
DAZN also broadcasts the final of the CL
After DAZN and Amazon Prime Video shared the broadcasting rights for the 2021/2022 Champions League season, only DAZN is now showing the final. Subscribers can follow the game both in the live stream and on the DAZN 1 channel. The transmission starts at 7:30 p.m., the two former footballers Sandro Wagner and Sami Khedira – the latter also world champion of 2014 – are present as experts.
