A bean bag in a microwave ensured that the fire brigade turned out en masse to the Tonckenshuys in Zuidwolde tonight. Several apartments in the nursing home were evacuated.
The bean bag would have caught fire in the microwave. Due to the smoke it caused, the fire brigade was called, who quickly scaled up. Fire stations from Zuidwolde, De Wijk, Ruinen and Hoogeveen rushed to the nursing home. An air ambulance took off from Eelde. But the consequences of the fire were minor and the firefighters were able to return home quickly.
