Five cars collided with each other on Thursday morning on the A27 from Utrecht to Breda. The accident happened near Werkendam, on the Merwede Bridge.
After the collision, the left lane of the A27 between Noordeloos and Werkendam was closed. This led to nine kilometers of traffic jams around 11 a.m., which resulted in a delay of more than an hour.

Several cars had to be recovered, a spokesman for Rijkswaterstaat said. The closed lane was reopened at 11:15 a.m. But because the traffic jam was very long and did not resolve quickly, it was advised for a while to drive via Zaltbommel and Den Bosch on the A2 and A59.
The problems on the road from Utrecht to Breda also led to problems on the road to the north. There was a viewership file.
