The bullet is through the church: if you want to go mountain biking on the Sallandse Heuvelrug, you have to be quick. The province of Overijssel will soon close the routes.
From now on, the mountain bike routes over the Sallandse Heuvelrug are closed between 1 April and 30 September. Several protected species live on and near the routes, including sand lizards and slow worms. These reptiles are active in the spring and summer months. During observations, it has been established that the sand lizards are killed by mountain bikers.
The manager of the Sallandse mountain bike routes is obliged to use the so-called single track to close within three weeks. Cyclists who nevertheless make a trip in the area can be fined.
