Washington and Seoul say they are concerned about the recent coronavirus outbreak in North Korea. They “are willing to work with the international community and offer assistance,” it said.
In the meantime, according to KNCA, there are already a total of 2.46 million “fever infections” out of a total population estimated at 25 million. 1.76 million people have been declared cured and about 629,480 are still being treated. The total number of fatalities is 66. Nearly 220,000 new cases of “fever” were reported in one day. That writes the South Korean news agency Yonhap.
The World Health Organization assumes that no nationwide vaccination campaign against COVID-19 has taken place in the country. Medicines are also scarce, so North Korea seems to work mainly by isolating patients and recommending home remedies such as honey tea.
South Korea and the United States have already offered to direct vaccines and other medical devices, but Pyongyang has not yet responded.
