Konyaspor President Fatih Özgökçen made a statement after the Adana Demirspor match, which they defeated 1-0 in their field. Özgökçen, referring to the death of their football player Ahmet Çalık as a result of an accident, said, “It has been exactly one week since we lost our brother Ahmet. We received good wishes from all over Turkey and even from the whole world. I would like to thank Turkey and the sports community. For a week, everyone commemorated our brother Ahmet in one way or another,” he said.
“IT WAS A PSYCHOLOGICAL STUDY WEEK”
Özgökçen said, “The match was played in a different atmosphere. You see the atmosphere. There was an emotional situation. May Allah never let any team experience such times. Our players worked well when their morale was low at the point of struggle. As a result, we registered 3 points in our house. After that, we forgot this pain and continued our success. We’ll look into it. We’ve been in constant consultation with friends on what to do. Both our technical team, us, and our executive colleagues. We spent this week as a psychological study. I was just in the locker room. I thanked all of them. They performed well in today’s different atmosphere. And the result. We are very satisfied,” he said.
“AHMET’S NAME WILL BE LIFE ON THE FACILITIES”
Expressing that they are working to keep Ahmet Çalık’s name alive in the facilities, Özgökçen said:
”There will be different studies on naming Ahmet; but everyone is trying to keep the name of our brother Ahmet alive. Many municipalities and public institutions made statements. Finally, the football federation made the season Ahmet Çalık season. We will announce the official decision within the next week with our club. We are planning to name one of our facilities after our brother Ahmet.”
“WE WILL ANNOUNCE THE TRANSFER THIS WEEK”
Referring to the transfer issue, President Özgökçen said, “Due to reasons beyond our control, we need a transfer. We, too, have transferred to Başakşehir instead of our brother Ahmet and Serdar Gürler as you know. At this point, our work continues. At least we conclude with a transfer this week, and we will continue to do so in the other weeks. We will complete the transfers and continue on our way.” said.
