Salt-Water Sandals is a traditional American brand that has been making summer shoes since 1944. The practical sandals, the loving "SALTIES" because they are not afraid of the sun, salt water or swimming in the sea, are offered to both children and adults.

A hand-stitched sole, buckles with stainless and adjustable tongues and braided leather: the shoes stand out for their timeless vintage design, the solidity of the materials and the quality of the craftsmanship designed by founder Walter Hoy.

origins

The history of the Salt-Water Sandals began in 1944 during World War II in the USA. To cope with the leather shortage, Walter Hoy, a British immigrant from Norwich, made a pair of sandals for his young daughter, Margery, from scrap materials from a military shoe factory. This is how the first pair of Salt-Water Original sandals was born.

Word spread quickly, and soon families across St. Louis were asking Hoy to make sandals for their children, which became Salt-Water Sandals.

evolution

For four generations, Hoy’s descendants have continued to craft durable leather sandals. Over the decades, the range of products has been expanded and the range of colors increased, while always preserving the original manufacturing techniques.

The company expanded internationally, gaining fans around the world, including celebrities like Alexa Chung, Sarah Jessica Parker and Lauren Jackson, and children of stars like Blue Ivy, Harper Beckham and Matilda Ledge.

Current

Salt-Walter sandals made of high-quality, waterproof leather for sand, sea and coast have been delighting young and old for over 75 years. The brand’s products are available online and offline around the world through the company’s online shop and in more than 500 retail stores in Europe.
