Hertha BSC is still hoping for a black commitment

For the loyal supporters of the Bundesliga soccer club Hertha BSC, the horror scenario could actually become reality. After the capital city club seemed to have been rescued for three consecutive matchdays, relegation against Hamburger SV is still a threat. Meanwhile, personnel planning in Berlin continues unabated.

The lack of planning certainty as to which division it will be in from 2022/2023 is currently proving to be a heavy brake pad for sports director Fredi Bobic, who has still not been able to present a new head coach for the new season.

According to a recent “kicker” report, Hertha BSC’s preferred candidate is still Sandro Schwarz. According to the information from the specialist magazine “Gute Chances”, the club itself should calculate on a commitment from the ex-Mainz coach, who is working for Dinamo Moscow in Russia this season and for the runner-up championship in the Premier League next weekend plays.

A decision as to whether there will be an engagement in Berlin will only be made after the weekend and thus also after the relegation.

Magath exudes confidence at Hertha BSC

Coach Felix Magath had no doubts until the very end that the relegation finals against HSV would be successful from Herthan’s point of view.

The most recent setback at 1: 2 in Dortmund, when Hertha BSC was still leading 1: 0 well into the second half, the old champion still wants to be understood as an encourager: “This game calms me down a bit. When we have such performances had shown throughout the season, we wouldn’t have to talk about the relegation”, Magath clarified in the “kicker”, referring above all to the defensive stability over long stretches of the game.

Magath was confident before the last two games of his Hertha commitment: “We have a very good chance of staying up in the league because we worked for this chance. At the beginning of my job we were completely written off. With the relegation we have that Minimum goal achieved. Now we want to reward ourselves with staying up in the league.”

After Hertha BSC dropped back to 16th place at the end of the season, the club from the capital will play the relegation first leg at home against HSV next Thursday (from 8:30 p.m.).
