Nice must fear for European football despite Kluivert’s goal

Despite a goal from Justin Kluivert against Lille, OGC Nice has to fear for missing out on European football next season. The French sub-topper lost the home game 3-1 and saw the competitors win on the penultimate match day of the Ligue 1. Kluivert’s opening goal came in the 31st minute. Pablo Rosario was also in the starting lineup at Nice.

Goals from Jonathan David and Timothy Wea after the break ultimately ensured Nice’s defeat to Lille, where defender Sven Botman was missing. Nice is sixth with 63 points. Number 5 RC Strasbourg has the same number of points and Stade Rennes is in fourth place with two points more. That place means qualification for the Europa League at the end of the season, of which one game remains. The club that finishes fifth qualifies for the Conference League.
