Eintracht does not want to give Mainz game away

Frankfurt/Main (dpa) – Despite the upcoming final in the Europa League, Eintracht Frankfurt does not want to take it easy at the end of the season in the Bundesliga at FSV Mainz 05.

“I would like to counter the opinion that we would give away the league. I find that disrespectful. We may not have shown the performance that we had planned here and there, but we never gave up a game,” said Eintracht coach Oliver Glasner the Rhein-Main-Derby this Saturday (3.30 p.m. / Sky).

The 47-year-old Austrian expects a high level of intensity from his team on the pitch. “Mainz will demand everything from us. We want to show that we can fight back. I’m not saying: be careful,” emphasized Glasner on Friday. With a view to the Europa League final against Glasgow Rangers next Wednesday in Seville, only captain Sebastian Rode should be rested a bit due to his many injuries this season. “He will start but only play one half,” Glasner announced.

The Hessians have to do without the injured Jesper Lindström, Danny da Costa and Martin Hinteregger. The defense chief will definitely fail in the Europa League final. “There’s no chance he’ll get fit in time,” said Glasner.
