René van der Gijp was robbed in his own street by PowNed reporter Jeroen Holtrop and his cameraman. It’s the first time since Today Inside’s TV exit that he appears in the picture†
The men of VI have deliberately chosen to disappear from view for a few weeks after the abrupt end of Today Inside. Jeroen Holtrop, reporter for PowNews, is not satisfied with that. He posted in his car for a long time this afternoon to rob René van der Gijp in front of his home in Dordrecht.
Cake for René
Jeroen succeeded: in the end René appeared on the street in an easy outfit with a pack of cigarettes in his hands. The reporter presented him with a voucher for 2,000 euros in the form of a cake. He can exchange the check at a Rotterdam club when he returns to the TV. They miss him there on TV.
Jeroen: “This is on behalf of the OQ in Rotterdam. They want to hand you a voucher for 2,000 euros when you join us again on Monday.”
‘Oh that’s nice!’
René reacts sporty. “Oh that’s nice. Yes, I must tell you quite frankly: I have kept myself a bit aloof from it. I think Johan had to go somewhere today. Who had to go today? Laren or what? He was going to talk to John today. I did go on Sunday, but I haven’t heard anything since.”
Will he return on Monday? “I think so. I am assuming, yes.”
‘Hassle for nothing’
Does he have full contact with Johan Derksen and Wilfred Genee? “I last heard from the guys last Sunday.”
René thinks the whole candle riot is greatly exaggerated. “Too much for nothing, yes. For a story that doesn’t exist, hahaha! Yes, what are you going to do with it?”
SBS 6 confirmed this afternoon that Today Inside will restart on SBS 6 on Monday.
