In the top 10 after appearances at Borussia
Patrick Herrmann remains loyal to Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 31-year-old, who switched to the U19s in 2008 and has been part of the professional squad since 2010, extended his expiring contract on Wednesday by two more years until June 30, 2024.
“Patrick has experienced a lot in almost 400 competitive games for the pros and as a player who made it from the Fohlen stable to the Bundesliga, he is a role model for all our young players. He’s a player who has given his all for the team and his club for 14 years and who has shown again this season that he can help us with his qualities. That’s why we’re glad that we were able to agree on a future together,” said Gladbach’s sporting director Roland Virkus.
Herrmann in the top 5: The most loyal players in the Bundesliga
More precisely, Herrmann completed 388 competitive games (55 goals/66 assists) for Borussia and is in eighth place in the list of professionals with the most appearances, one place ahead of Günter Netzer. From the current Bundesliga squads, only three players have been with a club longer than the right winger. “I’m just happy that I can stay with what I consider to be the best club in the world for another two years and I’m already looking forward to next season. I feel extremely comfortable here and am incredibly proud to have been playing here for so long. Borussia will always be my club,” said Herrmann.
