When Eintracht Frankfurt plays Glasgow Rangers in the Europa League final on May 18, then two of the most emotional fan camps on the continent will meet in Seville. The Spanish metropolis is already gearing up for a gigantic rush.
However, as the mayor of the Andalusian city told the Daily Record newspaper, Sevilla are ready for the final and will welcome the arriving fans with open arms.
“We’ve put a lot of work into the preparations and we’ll be ready to deal with it,” said Antonio Munoz. The politician is really looking forward to welcoming the fans from Frankfurt and Glasgow to his city.
“The city will get an important economic boost from the influx of fans for the game,” explained Munoz, who spoke of a “welcome boost” after the difficult years of the pandemic.
The “Rangersnews” portal speculates that more than 100,000 supporters will leave for Spain from the Scottish capital alone. Tens of thousands of fans are also expected from Frankfurt. The Hessians had recently provided exciting scenes in Barcelona when over 30,000 Frankfurters had smuggled into the stadium.
Historic chance for Eintracht Frankfurt
Both fan camps are entitled to around 10,000 tickets for the final. However, there will be many more people in the city.
Many are likely to hope to get tickets on site via the secondary market. However, it is already clear that the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in Seville, with 43,000 seats, will be too small to accommodate everyone who is interested.
The Rangers recently attracted attention with a special gesture. Since some seats in their fan block only have a limited view due to the roof construction, the club decided to give these tickets to its supporters free of charge.
Both teams made it into the European final on Thursday. On the way there, Frankfurt had beaten FC Barcelona and West Ham United, among others. Glasgow had eliminated BVB and RB Leipzig.
