BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – Deutsche Bahn wants to hire at least 21,000 employees this year. A company spokesman confirmed a corresponding “image” report on Sunday. The state-owned company is therefore looking for around 770 dispatchers and around 740 electronics technicians and train drivers each for the training professions. A total of 5,200 trainees are among the 21,000 new employees. “We feel that the competition on the job market is increasing and will therefore train and qualify even more,” said Bahn Board Member Martin Seiler to the newspaper.
Last year, Deutsche Bahn hired 22,000 employees. However, the company loses thousands of employees every year, primarily for reasons of age. There is an annual requirement of about 2000 new train drivers. All in all, the number of employees in Germany grew by 2,000 in the past year after an increase of 5,000 in the previous year. The group employs around 220,000 people in Germany alone./sey/DP/he
