These polar bears are party beasts. After winning the final in Munich on Wednesday, the ninth championship title was celebrated in a hotel in the Bavarian capital until the early hours of the morning.

Coach Serge Aubin (47) enjoyed the triumph a little calmer. The Canadian is THE master maker. The former NHL professional has been swinging the scepter behind the ice gang since 2019. Since he took office, things have been going uphill for the polar bears. 2019/2020 fourth in the main round, 2021 and 2022 German champion.
Aubin: “The 2022 title is a very special success. Against all odds, we fought our way through. I’m so proud of my team. It’s an indescribable feeling.”
And the team is proud of their coach. His strength: he speaks the language of the players, mostly stays calm. His plus: He does not line up according to nationality but according to performance.
Result: More top German players want to come to Berlin again. National defender Marco Nowak (30) comes from Düsseldorf, Jan Nijenhuis (20) from Wolfsburg.

Who is going? Goalkeeper Mathias Niederberger (29) signed in Munich.
AND: There is a big question mark behind the master maker Aubin (contract with the polar bears until 2024). He is said to have already signed with the LA Kings, Ontario Reign farm team.
Eisbären boss Stephane Richer said on the night of the championship: “The assistant coach from Ontario has already taken over. So you have a coach.” But according to reports only until the end of the playoffs.
So the USA will probably continue to lure. And when the NHL calls, there’s no stopping…
