New package of sanctions proposed: European Commission wants to get rid of Russian oil this year

The European Commission has prepared a sixth sanctions package against Russia, following the ongoing war in Ukraine. As expected, the Commission is putting on the table a complete import ban on Russian oil products. It is President Ursula von der Leyen who proposed the sanctions in the European Parliament on Wednesday morning.
