The scandalous US rapper Tory Lanez has secured another entry in his police register. The 29-year-old was caught with a “large amount” of marijuana at a Las Vegas airport on the morning of May Day – and was briefly detained.

As such, cannabis has been legal in Nevada, the state where Las Vegas is located, since 2017, but it is still illegal to fly with the drug as it is illegal at the federal level and in many other states. The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed a bill that would decriminalize marijuana nationwide, but right now it doesn’t look like the bill will get the necessary majority in the Senate. Cannabis is currently legal for medical use in 37 of the 50 US states. In 18 of those states, adults are allowed to use marijuana without a medical reason.

Tory Lanez faces up to 22 years in prison

Tory Lanez is now free, but the airport incident is likely to be one of the rapper’s minor legal problems. American rapper Megan Thee Stallion continues to accuse Lanez of assault. Lanez is said to have shot her in the feet in the summer of 2020, for which he faces more than 22 years in prison. The rapper denies the allegations. Megan Thee Stallion recently described the night of the crime from her perspective in an emotional television interview. The next court date is August 17th.
