This means that Jürgen Klopp (Liverpool) and Thomas Tuchel (Chelsea) can meet in the final. Liverpool prevailed 5-4 on penalties against Leicester City on Anfield Road. After 90 minutes it was 3: 3 (1: 3). The eight-time league cup winner from Liverpool has not won the competition since 2012.
Chelsea won 2-0 at Brentford FC. Tottenham reached the semi-finals with a 2-1 win against West Ham United. Arsenal FC had won 5-1 against Sunderland AFC the day before.
Complaint from Jürgen Klopp about the game plan
Klopp complained about the many games after the semi-finals and would rather only play one game instead of a return game. He would prefer to play only once at Arsenal and determine the finalist faster, said Klopp.
“I’m not just talking about player welfare this year, I’ve been talking about player welfare for six years or more,” said the 54-year-old. “If what I’m saying helped more, I would say it more often. But it doesn’t help. All I do with these messages is create headlines. They never get to the right places.”
No respite
