Construction company Heijmans in Rosmalen has noticed that the availability and affordability of building materials is coming under increasing pressure due to the war in Ukraine. The company is in talks with suppliers and clients about the consequences of this. Heijmans CEO Ton Hillen reports this in an explanation of the quarterly figures.
Ton Hillen emphasizes in his explanation that the construction company does not yet have delivery problems that would disrupt the planning of projects. The construction plans that are already in place are also still feasible. But according to Hillen, it is questionable whether this will also be the case for the rest of the year.
Powerful operating result
The first quarter of this year went according to expectations for the company. For example, there is talk of a ‘robust’ operating result in these first months of the year. This also applies to the development of turnover. Amounts were not mentioned.
What is clear is that the company still has 2.2 billion euros worth of work on the shelf. As a result, the order book, i.e. the total of orders that the company has received, increased by 100 million euros compared to the end of 2021.
Homes sold at a rapid pace
Heijmans sold almost 631 homes in the first months of this year. A year earlier, there were 755 in the same period. Homes for private individuals in particular were sold less. Despite this, the pace at which new owners were found for homes remained ‘undiminished’.
