Germany’s best racing rider Sibylle Vogt caused a big surprise at the season opener on the Hoppegarten racecourse.
Born in Switzerland, she won the Röttgen stud farm prize, worth 22,500 euros, with the 327:10 outsider Navratilova.
In front of 9,820 spectators, Vogt held his own in a good time of 1:37.9 minutes after a head-to-head fight against the oncoming Chic Cherie with Pierre Bazire from France. Third place in the breeding race over 1600 meters went to co-favorite Stella with Andrasch Starke in the saddle.
With the Dahlwitz Prize, Vogt also won the second main event of the premiere day. In the test over 2000 meters, which was also endowed with 22,500 euros, Vogt won with fellow favorite Mansour. The five-year-old stallion, who improved a lot this year, won after constantly being in the lead and had a three-quarters-of-a-length lead over the favorite Best of Lips with jockey Martin Seidl. Virginia Storm (Alberto Sanna) finished third, a length down.
The third breeding race of the race day, which was accompanied by the best external conditions, went to the seven-year-old oldie Lord Leoso. Jockey Encki Ganbat with the outsider broke away from the competition early on in the Altano race over the stayer distance of 2800 meters, which was worth 22,500 euros, and won by a margin of three lengths. Second and third place went to Nubius with Bauyrzhan Murzabayev and Sir Polski with Mikki Cadeddu.
