Matthijs van Nieuwkerk has to pay a high price for his new love happiness with Martha Riemsma. His children do not want to see him anymore, Private boss Evert Sankrediets reports.
Last week the Boekenbal was the place where Matthijs van Nieuwkerk and his girlfriend Martha Riemsma appeared together in public for the first time. The two were caught last summer by a paparazzo of the Story, after which Matthijs’ management confirmed that his marriage to Karin van Munster had come to an end after thirty years.
Is Matthew lying?
The manager of Matthijs hastened to say at the time that the presenter has not cheated: “Matthijs and Karin are separated. Their marriage has been over for some time. At least for half a year now. It is important to mention that, otherwise we will do Karin a disservice.”
Not much later, Matthijs claimed in an interview that the spark had jumped after the divorce. They are said to have been linked together in a cafe in Deventer by Özcan Akyol. He confirms Matthijs’ reading. But according to the weekly Privé, Matthijs, Özcan and Martha are lying a bit.
‘He cheated’
Matthijs and Martha had been dating for much longer, the weekly thinks. “It seemed like a white lie. In the autumn of 2019, rumors were already circulating in the editorial of the newspaper of Martha that the two were often spotted together that summer on the terraces of Twente and even then were regularly seen together on the tennis court.”
According to Private boss Evert Sankrediets, Matthijs just cheated hard and ensured that the relationship with his adult children Jet and Matthijs ended up in heavy weather. It is the front page news of the Privé this week: ‘Matthijs in love: high price for new happiness’.

Matthijs’ children are angry, Evert adds in Shownieuws. “The divorce has consequences for his contact with the children. Both Kees and Jet have very little contact with their father at the moment. That’s because they blame him that that relationship with Martha had some overlap with his marriage, to put it nicely.”
It has ‘rather heated’ within the Van Nieuwkerk family, according to Evert. “And by appearing at that Boekenbal together, he has thrown a stone in the canal again.”
