Data from 12,004 individuals receiving GLP-1 medication were compared with data from 15,221 patients treated with SGLT-2 inhibitors and 11,233 individuals using DPP-4 inhibitors.

The statistical analysis revealed a significant association between the use of GLP-1 medications and an increased risk of non-scarring hair loss. Compared to SGLT-2 inhibitors, the risk was raised by 37%, while it was increased by 68% in relation to DPP-4 inhibitors. Fortunately, the observed form of alopecia is characterized by the hair follicles not being permanently damaged, meaning that regrowth is generally possible.
