SKS’s AirPort revolutionizes tire inflation with a versatile pump head that combines the existing Multi-Valve head with Clik-Tec technology. This innovation allows cyclists to inflate bikes with four different valve standards using the same pump head.

Clik Valve and Classic Valves on a Pump

Traditionally, SKS has offered separate solutions: classic Multi-Valve heads for Presta, Auto, and Dunlop valves, along with Clik-Tec heads designed for the Schwalbe Clik Valve connection. The AirPort merges both systems, enabling one floor pump to serve multiple bike configurations without the need to change heads or use adapters.

With the Clik Valve, the compatible pump head locks directly onto the valve and releases after pumping. When used with the three classic valve types, the AirPort functions like a conventional Multi-Valve head. SKS has yet to disclose weight specifics, maximum pressure ratings, or included accessories.

What the AirPort Changes for the Clik Valve

Prior to the AirPort’s introduction, the Schwalbe Clik Valve did not rely solely on specialized pumps; many standard Presta pump heads could also inflate the valve. However, a compatible pump head or adapter was required for the easy click connection.

The AirPort changes this landscape. In households and workshops with diverse valve types, Clik-Valve compatibility does not have to be sacrificed for a specialized pump head that may not work with other bicycles. This flexibility does not resolve all issues associated with the system—such as compatibility with separate pressure gauges or targeted air release—but it lowers the barrier for choosing a floor pump.

An in-depth review of the Schwalbe Clik Valve will illustrate how straightforward the click connection is in practice and what constraints remain with the valve system.

Would a universal pump head increase your willingness to switch to Clik Valve, or will you stick with the classic Presta valve?
