A leak concerning the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold is causing a stir just before its official presentation. A video showcases a Samsung foldable device that was reportedly filmed prior to the unveiling on July 22, 2026. Notably, the surface of the inner display appears significantly less conspicuous than previously seen, as the typical crease seems markedly diminished.
Display Appears Nearly Flat in the Video
The video released by tech blogger Setsuna Digital on Weibo features the smartphone in its open state with an active inner display. A person is seen holding the device and moving it under varying light conditions. Normally, under such circumstances, the indentation along the crease is very noticeable.
However, in this footage, the display looks nearly flat. Only at specific angles can a faint line be discerned in the center. If this device is indeed the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Samsung may have significantly reduced the visible crease. It’s unclear from the video whether this section is also barely noticeable to the touch.
Closer to a Traditional Tablet
A less apparent crease could improve the overall usability of the large display. Glare would be less pronounced, and content could appear more uniform. Additionally, swipe gestures would face fewer disruptions from a noticeable indentation.
This might make the device feel more like a traditional tablet when open. However, whether this impression will last over time remains uncertain. The video appears to show a device that has been used very little. Therefore, conclusions regarding the crease’s behavior after numerous folding instances cannot be drawn.
Doubts About the Device’s Identity
The video also reveals the outer display and the back of the smartphone. Three vertically aligned cameras are visible on the rear, with the front camera located at the top of the outer display.

However, these features raise doubts about the authenticity of the purported Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra leak. Prominent leaker Ice Universe wrote on X after a further review, suggesting that it might actually be a Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Certainty Will Come Only at the Presentation
According to Ice Universe, the camera module and the size of the cutout for the front camera contradict the idea of it being the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. If the device in the video is, in fact, a Galaxy Z Fold 7, it raises new questions. The already available model typically does not feature a crease-free inner display.
The truth will likely only emerge on July 22, 2026, when Samsung reveals its new foldables and puts an end to the speculations surrounding the leak.
